The owner of a 2017 Toyota Corolla contacted the San Jose Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The San Jose Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2017 Toyota Corolla.

A short while later, investigators with the Santa Clara County Regional Auto Theft Task Force were working in the city of San Jose, when they picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the stolen vehicle was tracked to a residential area in the 1400 block of Colt Way. It was established that the vehicle was in the closed garage of a residence.  The address was known to the task force investigators as belonging to a juvenile they had prior contacts with.  Surveillance was established on the residence, but the juvenile was not located.  Contact was made at the residence and the stolen Corolla was confirmed to be in the garage.  The task force is continuing their investigation and will be seeking an arrest warrant for the suspect’s arrest.

The stolen Toyota Corolla was recovered by the Santa Clara County Regional Auto Task Force and the vehicle was released back the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2017 Toyota Corolla in December of 2016, at Livermore Toyota, in Livermore, CA.
