The owners of a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the driveway of their residence.  Their other vehicle had been stolen the previous week along with a purse that contained keys to the Chevrolet. The Phoenix Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Five minutes later officers from the Phoenix Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the area of 12th Street and Indian School Road.

The Phoenix Police Department officers located the stolen Chevy parked and unoccupied in the parking lot of an apartment complex approximately ten miles from where it was stolen. The vehicle was backed into a parking space.   During their investigation, the Phoenix Police Department officers located a possible suspect that was detained.  The keys to the stolen Chevy were located in the pocket of the suspect.  The vehicle was recovered in good condition and returned to the owners.  Further investigation is being conducted with charges pending.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Aveo in March 2008, at Chapman Chevrolet, Tempe, Arizona.
