The owners of a 2000 Honda Civic contacted the Sunrise Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The Sunrise Police Department verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine action automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later officers from the Opa-Locka Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signals from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from their PTCs, the officers tracked the vehicle to 2100 block of Lincoln Avenue. The vehicle was recovered intact, with no damage. It was returned to the owners after crime scene processing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2000 Honda at AutoNation Honda, in Hollywood, Florida in December, 1999.
