LoJack System Helps New Jersey State Police Recover Stolen 2017 Maserati Ghibli and Uncover “Chop Shop”

The owners of a 2017 Maserati Ghibli called the Linden Police Department to report that someone had taken his vehicle from a storage lot in the City of Linden. The owner said that the vehicle had been in the storage lot for months and he was not sure how long the vehicle had been missing. The Linden Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2017 Maserati Ghibli.
A short while later detectives from the New Jersey State Police Auto Theft Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal coming from the stolen Maserati with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the stolen vehicle to an abandoned warehouse on Frelinghuysen Ave. in the City of Newark. The detectives obtained a search warrant for the property and found the stolen 2017 Maserati Ghibli inside.
There were also six other stolen vehicles recovered as a result of the LoJack recovery; a 2016 Honda Accord, a 2008 Hino Utility Truck, a 2008 Volvo Tractor, a 2005 Hino Utility Truck, and a 2005 Freightliner Tractor. The investigation is continuing.
