A new car dealership contacted the Livermore Police Department to report one of their rental vehicles had been stolen. The vehicle, a 2018 Toyota Yaris had been rented and not returned for over two months.  Numerous demands to return the vehicle had gone unanswered.  The Livermore Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2018 Toyota Yaris.

Shortly after the activation, an officer from the Hayward Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the stolen Toyota Yaris to the 1200 block of “C” Street, where the vehicle was found parked unoccupied at the curb.

The undamaged Toyota Yaris was recovered by the Hayward Police Department and a representative from the dealership responded to pick up the vehicle.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2018 Toyota Yaris in December of 2017, at Livermore Toyota, in Livermore, CA.
