The owners of a 2011 GMC Sierra contacted the Downey Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the GMC Sierra.

A short while later officers from LAPD 77th St Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen GMC Sierra with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle from the area of Vermont Ave and Florence to the 7100 block of S. Vermont Ave where the vehicle was located parked with a suspect inside.  The officer deployed on the vehicle and held the suspect until back up arrived taking him into custody without further incident.  The suspect was later booked for the theft and the undamaged vehicle released to the victim.

The LoJack® System was installed in the GMC Sierra at Simpson Buick, Pontiac, GMC in September 2013.
