LoJack System Helps Chicago Department Recover Stolen Volvo XC90

The owner of a 2018 Volvo XC90 contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from a shopping mall lot in the 1000 block of W North Ave in Chicago’s Ranch Triangle neighborhood while she was shopping.  The Chicago Police Department arrived on scene, verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Volvo.

A short while later or officers from Chicago’s Lincoln District picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Volvo with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to 5700 block of N Damen Ave in Chicago’s Ravenswood neighborhood.

The Volvo was recovered parked and unoccupied. Additionally three thousand dollars in Christmas gifts the victim had left in the Volvo were recovered. Along with the value of the 2018 Volvo XC90, LoJacks recovery totaled over $50,000.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Volva in Sep of 2017 at Galpin Jaguar – Volvo, Van Nuys California.
