The owner of a 2007 BMW contacted the Dolton Police to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the driveway of their house in the 4600 Block of Edbrooke after the key was left in the vehicle as it was warmed up. Dolton Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW

Minutes later an officer from Dalton’s PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW  with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the vehicle to the 5300 Block of South Champlain, a street just adjacent to a local High School. The vehicle was recovered parked and unoccupied.

The vehicle was recovered and returned to the grateful owner before it could be damaged, cloned, re-tagged, or used in a crime.

The LoJack® System was installed in the in BMW 550 in Oct of 2009 at Luxury Motors, O’Hare Des Plaines IL.
