The owner of a 2017 Ford Fusion contacted the Travis County Sheriff’s Office to report that her vehicle had been stolen.    The owner parked her vehicle at an apartment complex and when she returned to it found it missing.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later officers from the Austin Police Dept picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Ford to a hotel in the 11100 block of Interstate 35, where they found it parked in the rear parking lot.  The windows were rolled down, but the Ford was in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Fusion in August of 2017 at Leif Johnson Superstore South in Austin, TX.
