The owners of a 2016 Lexus RX4 reported to Atlanta Police Department that their vehicle had been stolen out of their driveway during the evening. Once Atlanta Police verified the theft they entered the vehicle’s information into the NCIC system which automatically activated the hidden LoJack in the vehicle.

Later an officer from the Smyrna Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Tracking Computers (PTC’s) that are installed in their vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from their PTC’s they were able to locate the Lexus being driven by two individuals.

The vehicle was found to have a different Vehicle Identification Number affixed to the dash that did not match stolen vehicle. After further on-scene investigation it was determined that the original VIN had been removed and another put on in its place to disguise the stolen Lexus.

The vehicle was seized by Smyrna Police and suspects detained pending further investigation. The vehicle was impounded and returned to its rightful owners.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus in February 2016 at Hennessey Lexus in Atlanta.
