The owners of a 2005 BMW contacted the Amherst Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The Amherst Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

A short while later officers from the Holyoke Police Department and troopers from the Massachusetts State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers from Holyoke PD tracked the vehicle to the area of Elm and Cabot Streets and recovered the unoccupied stolen BMW..

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW X3 in January of 2005 at South Shore BMW located in Rockland, MA.
