The owners of a Chevrolet Silverado contacted the Pomona Police Department to report their vehicle had been stolen.  Pomona PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Only 60 minutes later deputies from San Bernardino County Sheriff’s department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Chevrolet to the city of Rialto.  In Rialto SBSD deputies stopped the stolen Chevrolet without incident.

At the same time officers from Rialto PD were dispatched to a bank regarding two suspicious subjects in another vehicle.  When they arrived at the bank the suspicious subjects drove away.  Rialto officers stopped the other vehicle.  The officers saw a purse on the back seat of the vehicle.  The subjects were unable to explain who the purse belonged to. The officers checked the purse and found a vehicle registration.  The officers ran the registration and discovered it belonged to the stolen Chevrolet stopped by the SBSD deputies.  The Rialto officers heard the deputies stop of the Chevrolet over their scanners.  Rialto PD notified SBSD they had two subjects stopped with the registration to the Chevrolet.  The Rialto PD officers arrested the two subjects and also responded to the deputies’ location to recover the Chevrolet.

The purse located in the suspect’s vehicle belonged to a female not listed as the registered owner of the Chevrolet.  Officers will follow up regarding the purse.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet in November 1988 at Tustin Chevrolet, Tustin CA.
