A Detective from TRAP contacted a dealership regarding a 2015 Honda that had been reported stolen by West Covina PD. Contact was made with dealership management and the Detective learned that the Honda had been taken in trade for a 2018 Dodge Journey. The investigation led to the discovery that the suspect had purchased the Dodge by fraud and was the person responsible in the theft of the Honda.  The Dodge Journey was entered as stolen into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge Journey.

A short while later officers from LAPD Hollenbeck Division  picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge Journey with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to Gage St. and Lord St where the vehicle was observed. The officers detained two subjects in the vehicle.  Both suspects were named offenders and arrested by the officers.  Contact was made with the TRAP Detective who responded and assumed the investigation.  Keys to the stolen Honda were found on the female as well as numerous documents connecting her to the Dodge Journey. The male suspect had outstanding warrants for felony crimes and was booked for those warrants only.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Journey at Puente Hills Chrysler/Dodge in May 2018.
