The owner of a 2016 Hyundai Tucson contacted the Santa Fe Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen.  The Santa Fe PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Hyundai Tucson.

Shortly after the activation, flight officers with the Albuquerque Police Department Air1 and deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Tucson with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers and detectives tracked the LoJack signal to the area of Atrisco and Bridge.  Deputies located the stolen Tucson and found it to be occupied.  Contact was made with the Tucson and the driver was taken into custody.  The Tucson was recovered and will be released back to its owner at a later date.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Hyundai Tucson in December 2017 at CarMax in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
