LoJack System Helps Baltimore City Police Department Recover Stolen Toyota ARMED CAR-JACKING

The owner of a 2017 Toyota 4 Runner contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen during an armed car- jacking from the area of Druid Hill Avenue and Swann Park Drive in the Druid Hill area of Baltimore City, Maryland. Baltimore City Police Radio dispatched an officer from the 7th district to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the subject vehicle. When the officer was unable to locate the vehicle, a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2017 Toyota 4 Runner.

A short while later, officers from Baltimore City Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen 2017 Toyota 4 Runner with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to 1100 Druid Park Lake Drive in Baltimore City, Maryland. At this location, officers observed the vehicle abandoned and unoccupied. The vehicle was recovered by police and towed for forensic processing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2017 Toyota 4 Runner in August, 2017 at Jerry’s Toyota in Fullerton, Maryland.
