The owner of a 2006 Ford F150 contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford F150.

Shortly after the activation, officers with the New Mexico State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the LoJack signal to the area of Unser and Ladera.

The officer observed the Ford at a gas station and it appeared to be occupied.  The officer requested the Auto Theft Unit Agents to respond to the scene and surveillance was established.  The hood to the stolen Ford was opened and parked alongside the fuel pumps.  Agents moved in on the Ford at which time the male driver took off on foot.  However his attempt to flee was futile as he was promptly apprehended.  Two female passengers were inside of the stolen Ford and they too were taken into custody.  The Ford was recovered and will be returned to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F150 in July 2006 via Direct Sales in Dade City, Florida.
