The owner of a Tacoma area heating company came to work and found a 2004 Chevrolet Express Van stolen from the parking lot of the business sometime overnight.  The owner checked video surveillance and was able to verify that an unknown suspect had unlocked the door with a key and was able to drive the van away.  A former employee was suspected.  The owner called the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department to report the theft. The theft was verified and the van was entered as stolen into the state and federal crime computers.  This automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the vehicle.

Shortly after the stolen vehicle activation, a Deputy with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department received a LoJack hit on his Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Additional deputies responded to assist with the track.  Utilizing the audible and visual signals of the LoJack® PTCs, the deputies were able to navigate and find the stolen van at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of 99th St Ct E, Tacoma, WA.  The van was unoccupied and did not sustain any damage.  The van was turned over to a very thankful business owner who was able to immediately place the van back into service.  As a result of this quick recovery, there was no financial loss to the business.

The total time elapsed from stolen vehicle entry to recovery and deactivation was only 34 minutes.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Express van in Feb of 2015 for a direct customer in Washington.
