A new vehicle dealership contacted the Roseville Police Department to report that three vehicles had been stolen from their sales lot. One of the vehicles, a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 utility bed truck, was equipped with the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System.  The other two used vehicles were not equipped with LoJack.  The vehicles were discovered missing during an inventory after the weekend. The Roseville Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2018 Chevrolet truck.

A short while later, an officer with the Citrus Heights Police Department was alerted to the stolen Chevrolet truck by the silent LoJack signal received with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the stolen Chevrolet truck was tracked and was found unoccupied in the parking lot of a medical facility in the 1400 block of Secret Ravine Parkway.  The Placer County Auto Theft Task Force was notified and investigators responded to the scene. Surveillance was established on the stolen Chevrolet truck, but the suspect(s) did not return.

The stolen Chevrolet truck was recovered by the Placer County Auto theft Task Force and a representative from the dealership responded and picked up the undamaged truck. The other two stolen used vehicle are still outstanding at this time.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 utility bed truck in May of 2018.
