LoJack System Helps Chicago Police Recover Acura MDX Taken in A Carjacking, One in Custody

The owner of a 2004 Acura MDX contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that their vehicle had been carjacked when two armed offenders took his vehicle at gunpoint in the 3900 block of West Grand Avenue in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood. Chicago Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura.

Shortly thereafter officers from Chicago’s Grand Central District picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Acura with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the 1500 block of North Ridgeway Avenue where the vehicle was observed parked with one occupant, the vehicle was recovered and the occupant detained. Within hours of the carjacking being reported the stolen Acura was recovered undamaged with one taken into custody for investigation. Police towed the recovered carjacked vehicle for processing, police investigation into this incident continues.

The LoJack® System was installed in the in the Acura MDX in Aug of 2004 at Criswell Acura – Audi in Annapolis Maryland.
