LoJack System Helps Des Plaines Police Recover Acura MDX Taken in Residential Burglary

The owner of an Acura MDX contacted the Des Plaines Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen after they had had been burglarized in the 900 block of Webster Lane in Des Plaines. Des Plaines Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura.

Shortly thereafter a vehicle equipped with LoJacks Police Tracking Computer picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Acura with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the vehicle was tracked to the 800 block of Margret Ave in Des Plaines where the vehicle was observed parked and unoccupied on the street. The vehicle was processed for evidence by Des Plaines Police and returned to a grateful owner. The vehicle was recovered before it could be damaged, or used in a crime. Police investigation into this incident continues.

The LoJack® System was installed in the in the Acura MDX at Acura of Manhattan in Feb of 2006.
