The owner of a 2010 Honda CRV contacted the LAPD Harbor Division to report her vehicle had been stolen.  The owner was out shopping and left a spare set of keys in her Honda. LAPD Harbor verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Only 22 minutes later LASD Air 21 picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, Air 21 tracked the mobile Honda as it was traveling in the city of Carson.  Air 21 requested the assistance of LASD Carson patrol deputies.  Air 21 directed the patrol deputies to the Honda and as the patrol deputies pulled behind the Honda, it stopped. The male driver and female passenger exited the Honda and fled on foot.  The patrol deputies were able to maintain a visual on both suspects.  The male driver ran into an open garage but was ordered out and detained.  The female passenger was also detained while running down the street.

The female passenger was questioned and admitted to knowing the Honda was stolen.  She was arrested for the theft of the Honda.

The driver was questioned and he stated he was told by a friend where the Honda was parked with the key in the vehicle.  He was unable to tell the deputies the name of his friend.  The driver admitted to knowing the Honda was stolen.  He was also arrested for the theft of the Honda.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda CRV in September 2010 at Carson Honda, Carson CA.
