The owner of a 2008 Nissan Altima contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen.  The owner believed that a known offender took the Nissan without permission.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan Altima.

Shortly after the activation, officers and deputies with several agencies (Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, Belen Police Department, Valencia County Sheriff’s Office, Laguna Police Department and Albuquerque PD) in the Albuquerque Metropolitan area picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Altima with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Officers tracked the LoJack signal to the area of Central and Coors.

Officers tracked and located the Altima to a residential neighborhood.  The Altima was observed to be parked and unoccupied in an apartment complex parking lot.  Officers attempted to locate the alleged offender but with negative results.  The owner was notified of the recovery but could not respond to the scene at which time he requested to have the Altima towed.  This is the second time this Altima has been reported stolen, tracked by law enforcement utilizing LoJack and recovered.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Altima in April 2008 at Insured Dealer Services Inc. in Scottsdale, Arizona.
