The owners of a 2018 Ford Focus contacted the Riverside Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford Focus.

A short while later an officer from Bell PD, CA  picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford Focus with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to Florence and Walker city of Bell and observed a male subject pumping gas into a vehicle matching the description.

The officer requested back up and established surveillance.  Within a few minutes the suspect entered the vehicle and drove off.  The officer followed the vehicle onto the 710 Freeway following it for 5 miles until sufficient backup arrived.  At that time a felony traffic stop was initiated and the suspect was detained without incident.

When questioned about where the suspect had obtained the Focus, the officer was told that a friend gave it to him. The suspect was arrested and later booked for grand theft vehicle and receiving stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the at Team Ford/Lincoln, Las Vegas NV in April 2018.
