The owners of a Ford F-250 pickup contacted the Arvada PD to report that their truck had been stolen from their home.  A police officer verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers.  This routine action automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later a sergeant with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, who was off-duty, picked up the silent LoJack signals from the stolen Ford truck with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  The sergeant notified the Greeley Weld Regional Dispatch Center and the message was passed on to area law enforcement agencies.

Soon thereafter a Trooper with the Colorado State Patrol picked up the signals and tracked the vehicle to a truck stop near Highway 119 and Interstate I-25.  The stolen Ford truck was unoccupied and locked.  It was apparently undamaged.  Evidence collected at the scene provided leads for investigators to follow up on to identify the suspect(s).

The truck was secured for return to the owners who were the original purchasers of the LoJack when the vehicle was brand new 14-years ago.
