The owner of a 2017 Toyota Prius contacted the Livermore Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.  The owner advised they discovered the vehicle missing from their driveway in the morning, the day after their residence had been burglarized.  The owner was unaware the suspect(s) had obtained a key fob to the vehicle during the burglary and the suspect(s) had returned during the night to steal the vehicle.   The Livermore Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the 2017 Toyota Prius.

A short time later, officers with the Livermore Police Department were alerted to the stolen Toyota Prius by means of the silent LoJack signal from the stolen vehicle with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the stolen Prius was tracked to the parking lot of an apartment complex on Meadowood Common. The vehicle was found backed into a parking stall and the front license plate had been removed by the suspect(s) in an attempt to prevent the vehicle from being identified.

The stolen Toyota Prius was recovered by the Livermore Police Department and the vehicle was released to the very happy owner at the scene after being processed for evidence.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2017 Toyota Prius in February of 2018, at Livermore Toyota, in Livermore, CA.
