The owner of a 2018 Ford Transit T350 contacted the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle had been stolen with the keys.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later a trooper from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Aviation Unit on routine air patrol in central Ohio picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the trooper tracked the vehicle to a parking lot for an outlet mall in Jeffersonville, Ohio.

The trooper radioed to ground cars from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and advised them that the vehicle was occupied.  The ground cars removed and arrested all three occupants.

Because of the quick recovery the suspects were unable to strip the stolen Ford or use it to commit additional crimes.  The stolen Ford was impounded and later released to the owner.  This matter is being further investigated by the Montgomery County and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Transit T350 in May 2018 through Commercial / Direct Sales.
