The owner of a 2000 Mercedes Benz SLK230 contacted the Biloxi Police Department in Mississippi to report their vehicle was stolen.  The owner suspected a female subject, whom he just met, as taking his Mercedes without permission.  The Biloxi PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes SLK230.

Shortly after the activation, and approximately 60 miles away from the theft location, officers with the Slidell Police Department in Louisiana picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the silent and directional cues from the PTC, the Mercedes was tracked to the area of Gause Blvd and Interstate 10.

Officers located the Mercedes in a restaurant parking lot and observed it to be occupied by a dog without its human.  Officers made the decision to set up surveillance on the Mercedes believing the occupants were inside of the restaurant.  Officers observed a male subject enter the Mercedes and he was taken into custody.  Through further investigation, officers located a female subject who was later identified as the initial theft suspect.  The female subject was also taken into custody and the Mercedes was recovered.  Both subjects were arrested and booked for auto theft related charges.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes Benz SLK230 in January 2000 at Hoehn Mercedes Benz in Carlsbad, California.
