The owner of a 2004 Toyota Camry contacted the Dallas Police Dept to report that her vehicle had been stolen.    The owner while driving on the freeway had engine problems and left her vehicle on the side of the road.  When she returned to it she found it missing.

The Dallas Police Dept verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Camry.

Twenty minutes later officers from the Dallas Police Dept picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota Camry with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Toyota Camry to a junkyard in the 7000 block of S. Central Freeway.  Officers found the stolen Toyota Camry parked inside the fenced in area.  Auto theft detectives responded to this location and checked the other vehicles at the junkyard.  A stolen Toyota pickup and a stolen Chevrolet Avalanche were also identified and recovered.  The Avalanche had been crushed.  The owner of the junkyard gave detectives the name of the suspect who towed these vehicles to his yard.  This is an ongoing investigation.  The Toyota Camry was recovered in good condition.

The collateral recovery value is $2000.00

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in September of 2004 at Metroplex Toyota in Dallas, TX.
