The owner of this Nissan contacted the Fresno Office of the California Highway Patrol to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of their apartment complex. The California Highway Patrol verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

About an hour after the LoJack was activated, a Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputy picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Deputy tracked the vehicle to a ranch near Mountain View and Thompson avenues north of the city of Selma. The unoccupied vehicle was found parked behind a barn on the property. Attempts to locate the property owner for a statement were unsuccessful. The vehicle was recovered intact and sustained only ignition damage; it was released to the owner at the recovery scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan in February 2007 at United Nissan in Las Vegas, Nevada.
