The owner, a used car dealership, of a 2007 Toyota 4Runner contacted the Tulsa Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen.  The owner of the dealership advised that an unknown offender entered the lot, entered the Toyota 4Runner and drove away while the business was closed.  The Tulsa PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota 4Runner.

About 8 minutes after the activation, officers with the Tulsa PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the silent and directional cues from the PTC, the Toyota was determined to be mobile.  The officers were traveling westbound on Admiral when they observed the Toyota traveling eastbound.  Officers made a U-turn to initiate a traffic stop with Toyota and at the same time the Toyota abruptly stopped in a parking lot.

Officers made contact with four occupants of the stolen Toyota.  The driver was identified and found to have several outstanding warrants for his arrest.  One of the passengers was found to in possession of methamphetamine and also had outstanding warrants.  Both subjects were arrested and booked for the auto theft charges along with the warrants.  The other two passengers had no idea the Toyota was stolen and were subsequently released.

The owner was notified of the recovery and reported to the scene.  The Toyota was returned the owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota 4Runner in February 2010 at Momentum Toyota in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
