The owners of a flooring company contacted the Mesa Police Department to report that their 2005 Komatsu Forklift had been stolen overnight from the business.  The forklift was in the rear fenced area of the property where someone broke into the secured area.

The Mesa Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Komatsu.

Minutes later officers from the Mesa Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Komatsu with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen forklift to a neighborhood in the area of 67th Street and east Alder Avenue, approximately one mile from where the forklift was stolen from.

The Mesa Police Department officers and auto theft detectives located the Komatsu forklift concealed behind other vehicles and under a tree in the rear corner of a business.  One subject was detained and interviewed.  The forklift was recovered in good condition and was impounded for evidence.  The Mesa Police Department detectives are following up on investigative leads with charges pending.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Komatsu Forklift in October 2004 by Commercial Sales.
