The owners of a 2010 Toyota Corolla contacted the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Corolla.

A short while later, flight officers from Pasadena Police Department patrolling in airship PD-1 picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota Corolla with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the flight officers tracked the vehicle from Pasadena to the city of Alhambra and located the vehicle parked in a large parking lot.  Officers from Alhambra were advised and responded to recover the vehicle.  The vehicle was found unoccupied and a surveillance was established.  Within 15 minutes a female entered the vehicle and began driving off.  Officers deployed on the vehicle taking the female suspect into custody without further incident.  The suspect was later booked for the vehicle theft.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla at Toyota of Redlands at in December 2009.
