The owner of a Honda CRV contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen in the city of San Diego.

San Diego Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Within 19 minutes, officers from La Mesa Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the area of Interstate 805 and Interstate 15 freeways in the city of San Diego. A traffic stop was made; one suspect was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda CRV in March 1999 at Miller Honda, Van Nuys, California.
