LoJack System Helps Chicago Police Recover Honda Civic in 15 Minutes.

The owner of a Honda Civic contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the 5500 Block of South Kimbark Avenue in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood when they had left the vehicle running and unattended. Chicago Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Six minutes later officers from Chicago’s Deering Police District picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the 4700 block of South Ashland Avenue in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood. The Chicago Police recovered the vehicle parked and unoccupied 15 minutes after it was reported stolen.

The vehicle was recovered before it could be damaged, cloned re-tagged or used in a crime. Police investigation into this vehicle recovery continues

The LoJack® System was installed in the in Honda Civic at River Oaks Honda in Lansing Illinois in Aug of 2008.
