The owner of a 2006 Nissan Altima contacted the Las Vegas metropolitan Police Department to report that her vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of a hospital in the 5400 block of South Rainbow.   The owner had asked an acquaintance to drive her to the hospital as she was having a medical emergency.  The owner instructed the acquaintance to take the vehicle back to her house.  When the owner was released from the hospital she found out that the acquaintance never returned the vehicle and the owner had no way to contact them. The owner then contacted the police after the appropriate time to report it as stolen.

Las Vegas metropolitan Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

10 minutes later officers from Las Vegas metropolitan Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 4800 block of West Desert Inn where the Nissan was located unoccupied.  The Nissan was then recovered and returned back to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Altima in February of 2007 at Capitol Nissan, San Jose, California.
