The owner of a 2013 Ford Focus contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report that her vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of her apartment complex in the 2800 block of South Valley View.  The owner had come home and as she entered her apartment she hung her purse from the door handle of the front door and did not lock it. She then went to bed for the night.  When she got up the next morning she found that someone had entered her apartment and had taken her purse.  She then went out to the parking lot and found her Ford missing.  She then notified the police about the theft.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

20 minutes later officers from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to the intersection of Redwood and Charleston where they found it occupied by a male.  The officers were able to safely stop the Ford and take the driver into custody.  Through investigative means it was discovered that the male was the one who entered the apartment and took the purse.  He was also responsible for stealing the Ford.  The driver was arrested for the theft of the car and the burglary of the apartment.  The Ford was recovered and returned back to the very happy owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Focus in May of 2013 at Friendly Ford, Las Vegas, Nevada.
