The owner of a 2006 Mini Cooper contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen in the city of San Diego.

San Diego Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mini.

A short while later, officers from San Diego Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mini with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to 30th street and Juniper Street in the city of San Diego.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mini Cooper in May 2006 at Irvine BMW-Mini, Irvine, California.
