The owner of a 2005 Toyota Tacoma contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from the 2600 block of East Sunset. The owner lives in his Toyota and had stopped at a local park to charge his cellphone. He left his Toyota unoccupied with the keys in it while he did this. He then observed his Toyota start up and drive out of the park so he called police.

A police officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to the intersection of Dear Haven and Rollingwood where the Toyota was found unoccupied and unharmed. The Toyota was then recovered and returned back to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Tacoma in September 2007 at Centennial Toyota in Las Vegas, Nevada.
