The owners of a 2000 Honda Civic contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the driveway of their residence with the keys that had been left in the vehicle.

The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Five minutes later, officers from the Glendale Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to a neighborhood near 49th Avenue and Rose Lane.

The patrol officers from the Glendale PD located the stolen Honda occupied and conducted a high risk felony stop on the vehicle. The male driver and female passenger were detained without incident. During the interviews both suspect admitted to the vehicle theft. The suspects were arrested and booked for the vehicle theft, possession of burglary tools and possession of illegal drugs. The Honda was recovered in good condition and later returned to the owners.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in April 2000 at Tempe Honda in Arizona.
