The owner of a 2003 Nissan Frontier called the Albuquerque Police Department to report their pickup was stolen. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

Just five minutes after the activation, a deputy with the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputy determined the Nissan was mobile and began tracking the vehicle. The Nissan was tracked to an abandoned residence and was found to be unoccupied. The Nissan was found to have a stripped out ignition bypassing the need for a key to start the engine. The Nissan was recovered to be returned to the owner.

Six days after this recovery the Nissan was stolen yet again to the shock of the owner. The Nissan was again entered as stolen activating the LoJack® System. Flight officers with the Albuquerque PD Air5, Auto Theft Detectives and a New Mexico State Police officer picked up the LoJack signal. Air5 directed ground units into the area and the Nissan was recovered for the second time in less than a week. The Nissan was found abandoned and will be returned to the owner for the second time.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Frontier in November 2003 at Pinnacle Nissan in Scottsdale, Arizona.
