The owner of the Toyota Camry advertised his vehicle for sale on the internet. A male answered the ad to come to look at the Toyota. At a prearranged meeting the male showed up to look at the Toyota, telling the owner he was interested, he asked if he could take a test drive. The owner obliged and allowed him to take for a test run, the only problem was he never came back. This was in the Bayside section of Queens confines of the 111 precinct. He immediately called the New York Police Department of the 111 precinct and they verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Camry.

Stolen Vehicle Tracked – Suspect Arrested

A short while later the silent LoJack signal was picked up by the members of the Auto Crime Division on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) in their vehicle. This was in the Flushing section of Queens, confines of the 109 precinct. They tracked the moving Toyota through various streets in Flushing, eventually catching up with it at a traffic light. They immediately swooped down on the suspect, before he had a chance to drive off, thereby avoiding a possible dangerous pursuit. The subject was taken into custody without incident, and the Toyota was recovered. The owner was contacted and he was elated that his Toyota was recovered so quickly, especially with no damage. He further stated that he was happy that when he bought the Toyota it was equipped with the LoJack® System, stating that if it wasn’t for LoJack his car may never would had been recovered.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 1997 Toyota Camry in June 1997 at Queensboro Toyota in Jamaica, New York.
