The owner of a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta called the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen. The owner advised the Volkswagen was stolen from the area of Wyoming and Copper. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Volkswagen.

Shortly after the activation, a vehicle equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Volkswagen. The Volkswagen was tracked to an apartment complex in the area of Candelaria and Chelwood.

An officer with the Albuquerque PD located the Volkswagen parked in the apartment complex parking lot and it was found to be unoccupied. Officers attempted to contact the owner to advise of the recovery but met with negative results. The Volkswagen was recovered and towed from the scene for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Volkswagen Jetta in May 2015 at University Motors Volkswagen and Mazda in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
