The owner of a 1998 Ford Mustang called the Albuquerque Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Within just under an hour after the activation, officers with the Albuquerque PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft. The Ford was tracked to a gas station in the area of Central and Wyoming. Officers observed a subject inside of the Mustang and he was taken into custody.

The Mustang was subsequently recovered and the owner was notified of the recovery. The Mustang will be released back to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Mustang in September 2008 at Pikes Peak Acura in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
