The owner of a 2016 Toyota RAV-4 contacted the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the area of 4400 13th Street NW in Washington, DC. The District of Columbia Metropolitan PD Radio dispatched an officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the Toyota. When the officer was unable to locate the Toyota a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota RAV-4.
A short while later, officers from the District of Columbia Metropolitan PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota RAV-4 with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to the area of 2500 12th Street NW in Washington, DC. At this location officers located the Toyota parked and unoccupied. The undamaged Toyota was then recovered by police and the owner notified.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2016 Toyota RAV-4 in December 2016 at DARCARS Toyota in Silver Spring, Maryland.
