The owner of a 2009 Land Rover LR3 contacted the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the area of 3400 Legation Street NW in Washington, DC. The District of Columbia Metropolitan PD Radio dispatched an officer from the 2nd district to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the Land Rover. When the officer was unable to locate the Land Rover a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Land Rover LR3.

A short while later, officers from the District of Columbia Metropolitan PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Land Rover with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Land Rover to the area of 700 Shepherd Road NW in Washington, DC. At this location officers from the 4th district located the Land Rover parked and unoccupied. The undamaged Land Rover was then recovered by police and the owner notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2009 Land Rover LR3 in June 2009 at Land Rover of Alexandria in Virginia.
