The owner of a 2011 Toyota RAV4 contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the area of 3400 Montebello Drive in Baltimore City. The Baltimore City PD Radio dispatched an officer from the 4th district to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the Toyota. When the officer was unable to locate the Toyota a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota RAV4. Investigation on scene by officers determined that the Toyota was stolen after it was left parked with a spare in the glove compartment.

A short while later, officers from the Baltimore City PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota RAV4 with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to the area of 1000 E North Avenue in the East Baltimore-Midway area of Baltimore City. At this location, officers observed the Toyota parked and unoccupied. The undamaged Toyota was then recovered by police and the owner notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2011 Toyota RAV4 in December 2010 at Bill Kidd’s Toyota in Cockeysville, Maryland.
