The owners of a used car dealership in Loveland discovered that a Ford Fusion had been stolen and contacted the Loveland Police Department to file an auto theft report. A police officer verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine action on the part of law enforcement automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Short time later officers with the Loveland PD were picking up the silent LoJack signal coming from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles.

Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack PTCs, these officers tracked the Ford and located it parked and unoccupied. They backed off and continued to watch the Ford in case the auto thieves intended to return to the car. When three persons returned to the Ford they were taken into custody without incident.

The Fusion was recovered undamaged and was returned to the dealership.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Fusion in May 2007 at O’Meara Ford Center in Northglenn, Colorado.
