The owner of a 2012 Range Rover traveled to New Jersey when he was forced to evacuate his home in Florida do to Hurricane Irma. While he was filling up his Range Rover with gas at a station on Route 1 in Linden, New Jersey, someone forced him out of his vehicle at gun point and then drove away with his Range Rover. He called the Linden Police Department to report the carjacking.

The Linden PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Range Rover.

A short while later, detectives from the New Jersey State Police Auto Theft Unit picked up the silent LoJack signal coming from the stolen Range Rover, with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the Range Rover to a private home on Bergen Street in the City of Newark where the silent LoJack signal was coming from the garage. Surveillance was established while a consent to search was obtained for the garage. The Range Rover was recovered from the garage undamaged and a suspect was arrested.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2012 Range Rover in June 2012 at Land Rover Fort Lauderdale in Pompano Beach, Florida.
