The owner of a 2006 Ford F550 Construction Vehicle called the Nutley Police Department to report that sometime during the night someone stole his construction vehicle with a trailer and roller from a storage yard in Nutley.

The Nutley PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford F550 Construction Vehicle.

A short while later, officers from the Newark Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to Schofield Street in the City of Newark where the vehicle was recovered abandoned. The trailer and roller were not located at that time. When Newark PD contacted the vehicle owner he stated that he did not know that the Ford was equipped with LoJack. The owner of the Ford had purchased the vehicle used and the LoJack® System had been installed at the request of the previous owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2006 Ford F550 Construction Vehicle in May 2006 via Commercial Sales in Farmingdale, New York.
