The owner of a 2001 Nissan Maxima contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen after the vehicle was left unattended with the engine running and keys in the ignition from the area of 4200 Erdman Avenue in Baltimore City. The Baltimore City PD Radio dispatched an officer from the 4th District to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the Nissan. When the officer was unable to locate the Nissan a stolen vehicle report was prepared. The officer then arranged for the stolen vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

A short while later, officers from the Baltimore City PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopters. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Nissan to the area of 600 Wyeth Street in the Washington Hill area of Baltimore City. At this location officers observed the Nissan parked and unoccupied. The undamaged Nissan was then recovered by police and the owner notified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2001 Nissan Maxima in February 2002 at Passport Nissan in Alexandria, Virginia.
